Q: How do I care for my Sterling Silver Jewelry?

A:  Gold, platinum and sterling silver are precious metals.  Sterling silver requires some care being that it will chemically react and yellow or blacken with a film called tarnish.  This is caused by oxygen in the air, perspiration, body chemistry or chlorine.  Most pieces today have a protective coating to slow down the tarnishing process.  It is recommend keeping your sterling silver away from swimming pools and hot tubs.  When not in use, store in a zip lock bag.  Liquid silver dips are strong chemicals and should only be used for a few seconds; never leave your jewelry in the solution as it will tarnish beyond the point of returning shiny again.  Using a silver polishing cloth is a less messy option.
